Timing Belt

I am going to need a new timing belt soon. The cost with labour is around $400.00 Canadian. The last time something happend to the timing belt it cost me $1500.00 fix as it damaged the rods. I do not want this to happen again so I am doing my best to save up for this job. If anyone has a cheaper way around this service please let me know. Quick update on the break job, it went well. I was going to add some pictures, but I forgot my camera on the day I got the job done. I also had an oil change done. The car has been running well for a few months now, but something is bound to need reapirs. I just added 155,000KM not bad I guess for a car with little support in Canada.
